Dear reader,

Welcome at the Website of the 'Poort van Breda'

The Poort van Breda is a characteristic complex consisting of 58 luxury apartments, designed by the Belgian architect Charles Vandenhove, finished in 2000. With its splendid and remarkable design it is one of the most prominent buildings of the town, and for every citizen of Breda it is a well known, special eye-catcher. Especially the proud tower with its silver coloured roof is a true sensation. In 2001 the majority of the inhabitants of Breda choose the building as winner of the Architecture price, meant for the most beautiful, and/or most special building in town during the period 1997 - 2000.

The apartment complex fits perfectly in the old heart of the town of Breda. On the one hand it is a building with classical charisma - the architect had in mind to recall the old defences (town wall with towers), besides fitting to the surrounding 19th century houses.
The special design with its zinc roofs and red facing brick, the use of classical decorations as capitals and half-round columns can at the same time be characterised as a marvellous example of 'post-modern' architecture.

The complex is situated in the centre of Breda, at the canal that encloses the old heart of the town, very near the 'Valkenbergpark', that counts as one of the most beautiful city parks of the Netherlands. The shopping centre, the historic heart of the town with the 'Grote Markt' (marketplace) and the 'Grote Kerk' (church) at one side, and the railway station at the other side, are all on walking distance of a few minutes.

Every apartment of the 58 is unique in layout and design. Modern conveniences, such as a common, nicely decorated inner courtyard, as well as a safe underground parking garage guarantee comfortable living. From our own experience we know that the Poort van Breda is also at the inside sensational …to be lived in!
